Daily car rental in Dubai

Alligator Car Rental operates from Business Bay and hands over cars across Dubai every day of the year. Most of our short-term clients ask the same three questions before booking: what exactly is a rental day, what is blocked on my card, and what can I be charged for after I return the car. This page answers all three, because a short rental only stays cheap when the terms are clear from the start.

One rental day means 24 hours, not a calendar date

A day starts at the moment you receive the keys and ends 24 hours later. If you collect a car at 18:00 on Monday, you return it at 18:00 on Tuesday. We allow a one-hour grace period; after that the system charges a full additional day.

Plan the return around your flight or your meeting, and if you are running late, message our manager before the hour expires. In most cases we can extend the contract for the exact hours you need instead of billing a whole extra day. Extensions are confirmed over WhatsApp and do not require you to come to the office.

Renting without a deposit: how the scheme actually works

Classic rental companies block between 1,000 and 5,000 AED on a credit card and release it 20 to 35 days after return. For a traveller with a three-day trip, that hold is often larger than the rental itself.

Daily car rental with no deposit removes the block entirely, instead of freezing a sum on your card, you sign a separate agreement and rental customer consent form and pay a small surety fee for the rental period. The fee is fixed, it is named before you book, and nothing is held against your card balance.

Two points worth knowing. First, a credit card is not mandatory with us at all. We accept debit cards, cash, bank transfer and cryptocurrency, which solves the most common problem tourists face at airport counters.

Second, deposit-free terms do not cancel your liability for traffic fines, Salik or damage caused through your fault. They change how money is held, not who is responsible. Ask the manager which specific models are available on deposit-free terms on your dates, since availability depends on the current fleet.

Documents, age and licence requirements

Tourists need a passport, a UAE entry visa or entry stamp, and a driving licence held for at least twelve months. Holders of licences from GCC states, most European countries, the USA, Canada (Quebec), Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, Singapore and South Africa may drive on their national licence.

Everyone else needs an International Driving Permit alongside the national one. Licences issued in Japan, Turkey, Greece and South Korea require a consular or embassy translation.

UAE residents present an Emirates ID or residence visa together with a UAE licence held for at least twelve months. The minimum age is 21 for standard categories and 23 for sports and luxury models. Send scans of your documents at the booking stage. It takes two minutes and removes any delay at handover, which matters when the car is being delivered to an airport arrivals area.

What is included and what is billed separately

Basic insurance is included in every rate. It covers incidents where you are not at fault, confirmed by a police report. If an accident happens, call the police first, obtain the report, and send us a copy – without a valid report the insurance is void and the full cost falls on the renter.

If the accident is your fault, you pay the excess, calculated individually per case. Drivers under 25, or those holding a licence for less than twelve months, are covered at 70 percent and carry 30 percent of the damage cost.

Delivery to your hotel, office or the airport

You do not need to visit our office to collect a car. We deliver to DXB and DWC terminals, to hotels in Downtown, Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, Deira and Al Barsha, and to business addresses in Al Quoz, Karama and Business Bay.

Delivery is arranged for a specific time slot, and the driver waits if your flight is delayed. Child seats and additional drivers are arranged on request, so confirm them when you book rather than at the kerb. Before handover you receive the car cleaned, refuelled and inspected, and we record the condition together so there are no disputes on return.

Rules that protect your budget

Driving the vehicle is permitted only on public roads in the UAE. Desert driving, dune bashing, drifting, and racing result in a fine of AED 10,000 and the voiding of insurance coverage. Furthermore, the renter is liable for the full cost of any damage caused by flooding or seawater.

Smoking inside the vehicle necessitates an ozone treatment, the cost of which can reach AED 2,000. Exceeding a speed of 150 km/h is prohibited and strictly monitored. This is not merely a formality, radar monitoring in the UAE is automated, and the fine is issued to the vehicle owner within a few hours.

Cancellations made seven days or more before pickup are refunded in full, 90 percent between three and seven days, 50 percent between one and three days. Within 24 hours of pickup no refund is issued. Rebooking to later dates is usually possible at no cost.

Booking with Alligator

Choose the car, confirm the dates, send your documents, pay by the method that suits you, and tell us where to bring the vehicle. Car rental in Dubai should take fifteen minutes of your time, not an afternoon at a rental counter.

Our managers answer on WhatsApp day and night, and emergency numbers stay active for the whole rental period. If you need the car for one day, take it for one day. If your plans change halfway through, we recalculate the rate for the longer term rather than making you close one contract and open another.
