How to Find a Balance Between Travel and Work

When you’re a digital nomad, you may find that travelling and working in one is the perfect lifestyle for you. But as a freelancer, you may find it hard to switch off. And when you’re travelling from place to place, this can become a bit difficult. So in this blog post, we’re going to look at some of the ways that you can find a balance between travel and work.

1. Know Yourself Well

First of all is really important that you acknowledge the different parts of yourself. Trying to find a balance can be hard to do unless you know yourself well. There is no one-size-fits-all answer or approach to this. Instead, you need to know how you like to work. If you love to get up in the morning and get your work done, then this could be the time that you allocate to that.

Or maybe you’re a night owl and prefer to work late into the evening. It could even be that you want to work for a number of days in a row and then take a huge block of time off. Only you can know what works best for you.

2. Create a Schedule

To go alongside that, you may find that creating a schedule can really help. While this doesn’t mean you need to box yourself in, it can give you a bit of a rough outline of what you’re working towards. If you have certain deadlines that need to be in, or you have appointments on certain days, scheduling these in can help you to focus on when you should be working and when you can dedicate to travelling.

3. Make Each Travel Moment Count

When you are travelling, it’s really important to make sure that you make those moments count. Making sure that you’re really in the moment and taking it all in is important here. But so is capturing your memories.

Here, you can look to make a memorable outdoor adventure scrapbook album, with your hiking photos and other travel snaps, so that you have them to look back on. But in order to do that, you need to make sure that you’re in the moment and really making the most of your time.

4. Focus and Prioritize

With that being said, when you are working, it’s really important that you focus and prioritise what you need to get done. You don’t want to feel like you’re frantically trying to work and not having enough time for travel. Aiming to be as productive as possible in the time you have can really make a difference here.

5. Take Time Off

Ultimately, you may find that you really benefit by taking time off from work here and there. Of course, when you’re travelling full-time, you are very much working on the go and combining both your work and travel together to create the lifestyle you want. However, there will be times when you’re busier, and your schedule is packed, more so with work than travel, and that’s okay.

But because of that, you also get to take time off and ensure that you’re dedicating enough time to travelling. There are always going to be those days when you want to visit certain locations or see certain sites, so give yourself the grace of booking that time off and focusing on your travels here and there.
